OPI Strawberry Margarita Anyone?

OK, my first question is how can anyone not love the OPI brand? This is my first nail polish by them and Oh My God do I LOVE IT!!

My Style Weapon of Choice: 3.75ml Strawberry Margarita (hot pink) Nail Laqure

It goes on so smoothly it is almost impossible (even for me) to get all those horrible lumps and bumps in it! The shine is incredible! And it only took 1 coat on most of my nails to create a beautiful solid colour!

It also dried within seconds, although I’d recorded giving your nails 5 minutes afterwards just to avoid chips. I chipped one and had to re-do it, but after 5 minutes this OPI polish is NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I love this because so many of my nail polishes even the 60 second dry Rimmel ones do continue to chip for hours afterwards! I love that this product doesn’t.

My only criticism is that now I bought the little one as a tester I wish I had bought the bigger 15ml one!

This is bar far the best nail polish I own and I can not wait to order more!!!

Seriously think I might order 5 or 6 more of the mini ones as my summer nail varnish wardrobe and satisfy my need for cute, small things at the same time!

Although I am not from the USA, in OPI 15ml tends to retail around $8-9 and about £8.45 in the UK.

I also paired this product with Rimmel MULTI CARE BASE + TOP COAT Number 965 to seal my nails (Yes I also love my Rimmel nail polishes if you hadn’t guessed!)

With each day passing by, we are being hit by more and more heat. And for all my UAE readers, I know the recent post going about regarding the increase in humidity next week is already scaring everyone on how we are going to survive this! We can’t let the heat beat us down, we gotta fight back.

Best solution – just stay indoors with the A/C blowing on your face. Just kidding (maybe not..) but when you do have to step out, I’ve got your back. You no longer have to leave the house flawless and end up looking, well, liquefied!

Just follow these simple steps and keep your makeup game strong:

#1  A flawless canvas is the key to a flawless face

Whether you have oily, dry or combination skin, using a moisturizer is mandatory. Keeping the skin well hydrated is essential and it makes for a good start creating a smooth canvas for your makeup routine. These are the moisturizers that work wonders for me (super dry skin) – Chanel Hydra beauty CrèmeShiseido Pureness moisturizing gel-creamBody Shop Vitamin E moisture cream. Even better is to use an SPF infused moisturizer!

#2  Keep your base strong – A primer is a must!

Priming your face is vital, specially in the summer. It prevents your face from getting shiny and locks in your makeup for long hours. Some of my fav primers are Makeup Forever Step 1 skin equalizersMakeup Forever UV PrimeYSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer. The same goes for the eyes – you want to lock in and prevent creasing.

#3  Toss your foundation for a tinted moisturizer

Less is more. This is the mantra you all want to chant all summer long. More makeup products and layers + blazing heat = cake face. The heat will make you sweat off any heavy foundation you use, switch that for a tinted moisturizer or a light foundation. My top most recommended light-weight foundations is the Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation.

#4  Keep it light

We all love a good contour and highlight. But like I said earlier, less is more. You don’t want to go for a full face of makeup and cake up. Instead of using heavy and deep colors on your face, use a bronzer on the high points of your face – forehead, cheekbones, nose and chin. Lightly brush it on these areas and let it do its magic. Check out Nyx matte bronzer and Benefit hoola matte bronzer.

#5  Goodbye shine

As much as we are all obsessed with highlighters and a dewy skin look, this is the last thing you want to do in the summer. The humidity will make you look sweaty-looking rather than a glowing queen. Instead, opt for a translucent talc free powder (this won’t absorb the moisture from your skin). Gently dust over the T-zone. Don’t pack on a lot (read #6), the aim is not to bake, but to keep the shine out and prevent the makeup from budging. Check out the Makeup Forever HD micro finish powder, it’s one of my favs and leaves your skin silky smooth.

#6  Switch the powders to creams

When powder based products meet with sweat, it is the worst disaster. The ultimate cake-face. Shadows, foundation even blush. Use cream sheer shadows over your primed lids and a cheek tint/stain to give you the flushed look. Take a look at Sephora velvet eyeshadow and L.A Girl velvet contour stick.

#7  Waterproof your lashes

Unless you want to end up with black tear lines, ’cause the sweat is capable of making you look like that, a waterproof mascara is your savior. Not only does it prevent the most-feared, but it also keeps the lashes curled up, specially if you have stubborn flat lashes like mine! Two of my most liked mascaras are the Maybelline lash sensational waterproof mascara and Too Faced Better than sex waterproof mascara.

#8  Tinted balm will be your new BFF

A heavy mattifying lip is not something you want to pick up this summer. Yup, it’s all the rage now but what you need to select is a tinted balm or a sheer version of your fav lipstick. This way you can add your balm to moisturize without the risk of color travel. Another product you’d want to try out is an invisible liner to keep the lipstick from feathering. It’s a waxy formula and the one I like using is Makeup Forever Lip line perfecter.

#9  A setting spray to prevent your face from melting

Just in-case the humidity and sweat battles through the primers and lightweight foundation, finish the face by setting it with a spray. This will ward off a melt-face. Mac prep & prime fix+ and Urban Decay all nighter setting spray will definitely do the trick.
